Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy

Psychedelic-assisted therapy refers to a therapeutic approach that incorporates the controlled use of psychedelic substances, such as ketamine, psilocybin, MDMA, LSD, or ayahuasca, to facilitate healing.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy has shown promising results in clinical research for treating a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), chronic pain, addiction, and existential distress in patients with terminal illnesses. These substances are believed to work by temporarily altering brain function and perception, leading to profound shifts in consciousness that can facilitate deep emotional processing, increased introspection, and enhanced empathy and connectedness.

What is psychedelic integration therapy?

Psychotherapy is a vital part of the journey in psychedelic-assisted therapy, offering a safe space to explore, integrate and make sense of the psychedelic experiences.

Here’s what the sessions could look like:

Preparation: Before diving into the psychedelic experience, we’ll have sessions to get you ready in every way—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We’ll chat about what you hope to achieve and any worries you might have and build a strong foundation of trust for your journey ahead. This preparation sets the stage for a safe and enriching experience.

Integration: After your medicine journey, we’ll work together to deepen your understanding of the psychedelic experience and integrate the insights you encountered into your everyday life. Whether it’s understanding a profound realization or working through tough emotions that came up, I’m here to help you figure out how these experiences can positively shape your path forward. These sessions are all about turning your psychedelic journey into steps toward personal growth.

Emotional Support: Psychedelic medicine sessions can stir up a lot of deep feelings and memories. That’s perfectly normal, and I’m here to provide a comforting space where you can express and work through these emotions. It’s all about moving through these feelings with support and understanding, helping you process them in a way that’s healing.

Insight and Reflection: These experiences can offer incredible insights and a fresh look at life. Our sessions give you the chance to ponder these revelations, understand yourself better, and clarify what’s truly important to you. I’m here to guide you through these reflections, helping you find the deeper meanings and how they fit into your life.

Cognitive Restructuring: Psychedelic experiences may bring about significant shifts in the way we think and see the world. Together, we’ll explore these new perspectives, challenge old patterns that no longer serve you, and foster a kinder, more compassionate view of yourself and others. I’m here to support you in integrating these new insights into your life, encouraging a lasting change.

In all, it’s about walking with you through this incredible journey, making sure you feel supported, understood, and empowered every step of the way.

Medicine Sessions

Ketamine is currently the only psychedelic substance that’s legally permitted in medical settings. Other psychedelics can only be accessed legally through clinical trials or special government authorization.

As part of my practice, I work with Entheomed, a center for integrated wellness and healing, that offers Ketamine-Assisted Therapy. While the main location is in Kelowna, BC, Entheomed also provides Ketamine-Assisted Therapy in Vancouver.
